DWT PIPE PURGING KIT: 25MM – 165MM

A full kit of purging bungs to cover pipes from 25mm inner diameter right up to 165mm.  A selection of double-lipped sealing discs with flexible connections and fittings designed for heat resistance up to 320ºC, perfect for purging pipe and tubes.  Also included in the kit is 10m of stainless steel cable to pull the bungs through the tube, as well as 10m of gas hose.

A flexible connection between the rubberised sealing discs allows the space between the bungs or dams to be situated or pulled through the bends of the pipe to be purged.

The DWT pipe purge system is easy to pull through pipes and bends without tilting. The design of the system also guarantees that at least one disc holds tight and this will reduce both purging time and inert gas use.
Typical purge time of less than 2 minutes (for example an 8” pipe will purge to below 0,01% Oxygen in less than 2 minutes).

The double sealing lips of the bungs ensure a tight seal to prevent leakages from tipping or falling over, particularly when used for purging an elbow.  The double seal ensures at least one of the lips of the bung is in contact with the inner surface of the pipe to maintain an effective gas purge even when pulling a DWT purge bung setup through pipe elbows.

Why Back Purge
When welding, a shielding gas is used to protect the molten weld pool from the atmosphere.  If welding a joint though, the shielding gas from the torch is not shielding the back of the weld.  The rear of the weld can then allow entry of the air, creating contamination.  This contamination can then lead to decreased weld strength and decreased anti corrosive properties within the solidified weld.  By creating an oxygen-free environment on the backside of the weld, back purging prevents oxidation, maintains the inherent properties of the parent material, and ensures the longevity and reliability of welded components. Furthermore, effective back purging ensures that the welded joint retains its corrosion-resistant properties, making it suitable for applications where maintaining hygiene and preventing contamination is critical.  Real world examples of where back purging is critical is in Stainless Steel car exhaust systems as well as sanitary pipework used to carry food or drink.
